What Fills Your Cup đźŤµ

Dear friend,

Hey, how’s it going? So I was reviewing my memorandom for May (where I write a sentence to recap what’s worth remembering that day) and noticed so much of it was about work. I do wonder if work is worth remembering, or at least worth taking up that day’s one sentence, or if the memorandom had just become a(nother) place me for me to write/bitch/show gratitude about work. But also there are low and high seasons with any job so now is the time to cut my teeth and brace — at least I can still fit in my runs a couple times a week!

Anyways, let’s talk about what’s filling my cup! This analogy came from my therapist where I was talking how so much of my time is spent on doing this or finishing that, and he just shook his head and said “But all of these things drain your cup, tell me something that fills it instead!” I remember not having an answer for him then.

But looking back at some of the photos I took in May, one of the things that really did fill my cup was spending an afternoon with my friends and their kids. It’s been so long since I last saw them that I was still following one of the kids in fear he’d fall. “You don’t have to do that, you can just let him be”, the parent said.

Other than that, I’ve been really enjoying spending time with Ian. Even though work’s been so busy and we haven’t been able to travel, he’s been so supportive at suggesting things to do on weekends, tv shows to watch, and even reminding me to see my parents. He recently made some lemon bars for me to bring to work and share with coworkers, which gave me just enough nudge/reason/pressure to finally come out to a couple officemates. I know it’s a bad look for me not to do so earlier, but to come out in a Corporate setting (with a capital C) is like, a whole thing. Iykyk, as the kids would say.

Anyways, how about you? What’s been filling your cup recently? Let me know how you’re doing, and your plans for June. My goal is to find a better balance between work and life, and just go somewhere with Ian already.
