Day 66: I rarely ever played sports during my first ten years growing up in Hong Kong. It isn’t so much my disinterest but culturally how most Hong Kong parents would raise their kids.

Every time I’d ask for permission to play outside, my parents would ask if I’ve finished my homework. I’d answer “yes” only to dread the ever-ambiguous follow-up: “Right, but have you finished studying?”

Well, what the hell does that mean?

To this day sports is still very much a foreign language to me. This PSA video from UNICEF captures a lot of what Hong Kong kids go through.
